Warrant Canary

A signed statement that Looker VPN Inc. has not received secret legal demands for user data. If we are ever compelled — and gagged from saying so — we stop re-signing this statement, and its absence is the signal.

Not yet active — issued at launch

LookerVPN is pre-launch with no live service, so no demand for user data is possible yet. The first signed warrant canary will be published when the service goes live, and re-signed quarterly thereafter.

What this canary asserts

At launch, as of each signing date, Looker VPN Inc. states that it has not received, nor been compelled by, any of the following:

  • National Security Letters (NSLs)
  • FISA court orders or directives
  • Gag orders preventing us from updating this canary
  • Subpoenas, search warrants, or court orders for user data
  • Requests to enable, weaken, or backdoor any of our systems or encryption
  • Requests to hand over private keys or to decrypt user traffic

How you'll verify it

Each canary will be a PGP cleartext-signed statement you can verify against our published signing key, dated with a freshness proof (a recent news headline or Bitcoin block hash) so it can't be back-dated. Every prior signed statement stays archived on this page, so a missing one is noticeable. True to our brand: something you can verify, not just trust.
